MTC seeks new governor to chair the Fundraising Committee

The Music Therapy Charity (MTC), a national charity, seeks a new Governor who would be responsible for developing a new Fundraising Committee.

The Charity is currently going through an exciting period of development, having recently undertaken a strategic review, recruited new Governors in order to diversify the Board and bring in new skills, developed new Mission, Vision and Why statements, and just this month launched a new website. Our work can be seen online here: www.musictherapy.org.uk

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in an ambitious and impactful organisation that aims to provide support for trainee music therapists and researchers, for both large and smaller research projects, developing knowledge of music therapy practice in all contexts.

This is a voluntary position, working closely with the Administrator, the Social Media Manager and the Event Organising Committee.  You will need relevant experience in fundraising for charitable organisations, board membership, and ideally have knowledge of, or an interest in, music therapy.

Responsibilities include:

At present, two to three online Board meetings per year of up to two hours

  • One in-person Away Day meeting per year, currently alternating between Cambridge and London
  • As Chair of the Fundraising Committee:
    • Chairing committee meetings
    • Overseeing implementation of the Fundraising Strategy (a new strategy is currently being drawn up by our Fundraising Consultant)
  • It may also include attendance at fundraising events and periodic conferences in addition to the annual Away Day.

We encourage applications from those with relevant experience and who are currently under-represented on the MTC Governors Board. These include people from Black, Asian and global majority backgrounds, people with disabilities, LGBTQI+ people.

If you are interested, please send your CV and a covering letter explaining why you would like to join the MTC Board of Governors, to Nicola Baldwin, Administrator, The Music Therapy Charity, [email protected].

Application deadline: Monday 12th January 2026.
