The Music Therapy Charity (MTC), a national charity, seeks a new Treasurer.
The Charity is currently undergoing a period of change, having recently undertaken a strategic review, recruited new Governors in order to diversify the Board and bring in new skills, developed new Mission, Vision and Why statements, and just this month launched our new website.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a worthwhile organisation that aims to provide support for trainee music therapists and researchers, for both large and smaller research projects, developing knowledge of music therapy practice in all contexts.
This is a voluntary position, working closely with the administrator who does all the day to day finance and book-keeping work. You will ideally have knowledge of, or an interest in, music therapy, and relevant expertise and experience for the Board of Governors. Relevant expertise includes finance and accounting, IT literacy and corporate/charity governance.
Responsibilities involve:
- At present, two to three online meetings per year of up to two hours
- One in-person meeting per year, currently alternating between Cambridge and London
- Setting budgets and forecasts
- Monitoring monthly management accounts prepared by the administrator
- Overseeing preparation of Statutory accounts
- Managing bank and investment accounts
- It may also include attendance at fund raising events, periodic conferences and Away Days.
We encourage applications from those with relevant experience and who are currently under-represented on the MTC Governors Board. These include people from Black, Asian and global majority backgrounds, people with disabilities, LGBTQI+ people.
If you are interested, please send your CV and a covering letter explaining why you would like to join the Committee, to [email protected].
Application deadline: 31st October 2025.
